Since Minute Maid Park's opening in 2000, tickets have sold well and the Astros have been entertaining local baseball fans. Minute Maid Park was previously named The Ballpark at Union Station, Enron Field, and Astros Field at one time or another, before opening with the new name in 2002 as the home stadium to the Houston Astros. Tickets have sold well ever since. The park boasts many amenities and attractions, and is really state of the art. 

The Houston Astros have been beloved by local fans and families from day one, and the management of the stadium has enhanced that experience and made it more accessible with more modern facilities and many new and diverse offerings for young and old alike. All the old familiar smells of hot dogs, peanuts, popcorn, and cotton candy still infuse the afternoon air. There is some wholesome fun for the whole family! Minute Maid Park Houston History

Minute Maid Park is Houston's very first retractable-roofed stadium. It provides protection for fans and athletes from Houston's notoriously hot and humid weather much as its predecessor, the Astrodome, did. But this new roof now allows fans to enjoy outdoor baseball, a luxury not possible in the Astrodome. The ballpark also features an authentic grass field, compared to the Astrodome's artificial AstroTurf, which was less popular with most professional baseball players.

The largest entrance to the park is inside what was once Houston's Union Station. You will notice on the left-field side of the stadium there features a colorfully activated train as homage to the site's history. This train actually moves on a secured track along the upper length of the outer wall behind left-field whenever an Astros player scores a home run, or when the Astros win a game. The kids really get a kick out of this. The engine's tender locomotive, which was traditionally used to carry coal, is now filled with giant oranges in tribute to Minute Maid's well-known product. For these reasons, Minute Maid Park continues to be a hit with fans and families all over Houston.
