Houston Venues

Houston is a massive city; Fourth largest in the United States, and the largest city in Texas at 579 square miles that house 2.1 million people. Although it originated as a major port city that exported large amounts of crude oil and industrial supplies, Houston has diversified and grown significantly in many different sectors, espeically in entertainment.

Houston houses the 2nd largest theater district of any downtown city in the United states, right behind New York City. This district houses several native theater and dance productions that travel around the world, including the Houston Grand Opera, Houston Ballet and the Houston Symphony Orchestra.

Houston is also covered in musical venues from the Woodlands outdoor theater in the north, to the arenas outdoor areas of downtown and south Houston. Not to mention all of the intimate locations found all over the city in smaller theaters, clubs, and bars with local shows happening nearly any night of the week.

And you of course cannot forget about our sports. Houston has a team in every U.S. major league sport except for the NHL. Although we do have our Houston Aeros, a part of the World Hockey Association, that performs in the Toyota Center.

Also in the Toyota Center you'll find our long standing NBA team, the Houston Rockets. At the NFLs first retractable roof stadium, Reliant Stadium, you will find the young Houston Texans team. At Minute Maid Park you will find the Houston Astros, a team that has been with Houston since 1962 and inspired the Astrodome (nicknamed the 8th wonder of the world). Houston is also home to several local college teams from our two largest and prestigous research univiersities, Universirty of Houston and Rice University.

Aside from regular season games Houston hosts several large sporting events, including: Shell Houston Open golf tournament, the NCAA College Baseball Minute Maid Classic, and NCAA Football's Texas Bowl.

No matter what day of the week, or what time of year it is in Houstn there is always something to do, so don't miss out and find the best events with us here at
